I have a 20 gal. tank and I have had it up for 7 or 8 days now. I started off with 2 guppies.
After about 3 or 4 days I bought 2 mollies. They both died. What fish should I be getting now? And can I get real plants now or should I stick to fake until the cycle is over? And what type of soil do I need? Will gravel do?

P.S. I havn't gotten any algae yet:D but when can I expect it(or dread it;) )

The type of fish dosent matter, just as long as you get cheap ones that you don't fear losing during the cycling period. When the cycly is done if you really don't want the fish take them back to your LFS and get the ones you do want. Yes you can have plants now. They will help remove some of the excess ammoina and reduce the stress on your fish. I'd go for any of the Anubias family of plant. They are very hardy and easy to take care of. And yes you will get algae. Just when you will get it is dependend on how much you feed your fish and the amount of light you have in your tank. When you start to notice a brown growth on your plants and decore, go and get yourself a Bristlenose pleco. That should take care of the algae for you very nicely. Or Otos, they are great at removing algae also.

Patience... I would reccomend waiting about a month before adding any new fish to the tank. Just let it cycle, sometimes it's hard to do that with a new tank and all.

Ok then just keep the surviving Guppies. Let the tank cycle before you add anything else besides the plants. By the way Mollies are in all actuality brackish water fish. They will survive in a freshwater tank but are more supseptable to fungus and bacteria.
