Hi,

On Friday, I put an albino Rainbow shark in with my Red Tail, Rainbow, and 2 Balas to replace one that had previously died from natural causes. Unfortunately, the bullied him to death and I found him at the bottom of the tank dead today. He was so cute :(

I'm thinking about putting one or two more Balas in the tank and something else. I already have Zebra Danios and Neon Tetras in my 30 g so I'd like to do something else.

Any suggestions would be great. I'd like to go shopping tomorrow.

Nope. All sharks are for 130g (see picture.) I've updated my Signature so that way there is no confusion.

The picture below is their home.

Okay so should/can I do 1 or 2 more Balas? What else would go good with the sharks?

I think balas would look great in that tank, especially when grown! You say you already have 2, how big are they? I think another bala would be fine, not sure about the forth one though...Sorry can't help yeah with the other sharks, I don't know anything about them.

Beautiful tank!! Are those real plants I am seeing in there or just the backround? or both?? It's hard to tell.

Thanks for the compliments. The plants are all fake. I still need a few more for the back as I think there is still a lot of the bright blue background (which is not a paste on background.)

I bought two blue gourami's today to go in the tank. Everyone seems to be getting along okay although I don't remember one of the gourami's antennae things being as short as it is.

The black sharks are turning into devils. Especially since they realize they can kill the other fish.

ya...I remember reading something about the redtailed black sharks being the ones you shouldn't put in any type of a community, even other sharks...because they're mean.

Might want to just sit back and do some more looking around before adding more to the tank...sorry I can't be more help I just don't know much about the sharks :)

Red tailed sharks are one of those fish I wish the pet stores wouldn't sell... They are mean devils. Rainbows are just barely better.

Problem with both Rainbows and red tails is that they will attack anything that 'looks' like them. Red fins, that elongated shape - Battle ensues. My wifes tank (I let her choose the fish - its a warzone) has both a rainbow and a Clown loach... Those are some interesting fights. Hopefully I'll be allowed to remove the rainbow soon :)

No!! Red tailed arent mean! Mine is the center of my tank, you just need to find compatible tank mates. I have a 75 gallon tank.

Here is the residents:
1 Red tailed black shark
1 syno eupterus
2 bala sharks
3 siamese algae eaters
10 tiger barbs
20 danios

Go to aquariumfish.net(really good and credible website) and it shows you more compatible tank mates.

Anything that can swim fast is good but if you have a really big tank(with lots of hiding places) you can keep two red tailed, but i wouldnt recommend it(i bought 4 RTB, all three but one died). The site also says that SAE are not compatible with RTB sharks, but as long as you have enough space, you can keep them in.

I have 3 Sae and a 75 gallon so there is alot of space for all of them, and keeping the SAE in three's will help, too, the aggresion would be concentrated on one fish.

Also, my syno and RTb rests in the same cave...i might just got lucky, but still, RTBs are not little devils:)

There are some chasing going around, but only if the other fish goes into my RTBs territory. But there are so many fishes sometimes in his territory that the SAE can go eat the algae on his cave.

muahahahahaaha sharks and shark dont mix. FULL STOP
yes they can:)

I was gonna suggest gouramis, but seems like you already discovered they can work with sharks. :) If you want a schooling fish, apparently tiger barbs can handle sharks too
i agree with you 100%(look up)....Tiger barbs are great, gives ALOT of colors, and they have great personality.

And oh, my bala sharks are starting to come up to me rather than dart away whenever im near...im happy:)

Well, I ended up moving the Rainbow to my 30g as I was getting sick of him harrasing my baby Balas. It seems like the Red Tail has calmed down now that the other guy is gone.

My Rainbow is about 3 inches right now, hopefully he won't get very big. I'd like to keep him in the little tank. I'm going to move out some of the plants to give him more room. Maybe I'll take out the plants and big rock and put a little cave in there for him.

I guess which ever shark is smaller can live in the 30g. This site says both should only get to 4-6 inches which isn't much bigger than he already is. All I have in the tank now are 4 zebra danios and 7 neon tetras.
