My 20 gallon has housed a bunch of little fish for a while, so I decided to try something new. Today I went out and bought 3 neon blue dwarf gouramis to acompany my 3 albino corys. I was going to get some platys and ghost shrimp, but the store was waaay over priced...it was 7 bucks each for the dwarfs and $3 each for the platys.

These guys are so funny. They swim around and poke each other with their ventral fins. I think I have at least one pair because two of them are always together and the other swims by his/herself. The store I went to had so many different types of fish! There were kuhli loaches, dojo loaches, clown knife fish, elephant noses, and the prettiest guppies I have ever seen...and those were $7 for a pair, so I left those guys at the store too. Oh well, I will have to go fish shopping later this week when/if I get more money...but this time at a cheaper store.

Aww! Right on! You can tell the males and females apart really easily, is one of them a duller silverish color? If so, the duller one is de lady. Anywawho... yeah those little buggers use thier ventral fins as arms pretty much, it's so cute! ...til one hits another in the eye! ;)

Cool:) Those are definitely all males. Females are not sold commonly in the trade because, as velvet mentioned, they are "dull silver" and many people think they're "boring."

Just watch out for aggression because gouramis are territorial - especially the males.

BTW, 7$ is cheap for a dwarf gourami here:)

nice lookingk dwarfs :)

karma- i dont think their is a different common name for the two different colour varieties, but i always reffer to the ones that preciousgems has as the regular dwarf gourami, and the all blue ones as the neon blue dwarf gouramis, but that may just be me :)
