Hey ya'll, I'm new to this site and a little new to cichlid keeping? My girlfriend just got me a 20hexagon tank and I'd like to make a colorful cichlid tank out of it. Any ideas??????????? Thanks,
Mikey

id think 2 german rams? or if there not pairing id say 1 male 2 femals and some other odd community fish.. but not many maybe a school of tetras(4) and 3 ottos that would over stock ya a bit but would be a hella active tank.......

hope that helps.. .theres not a whole lot of cichilids that go in a 20g..

You really can't do anything other than rams or apistos, to be honest. A 20gal is too small for most cichlids, and a 20gal hex is just about useless. If you'd like a colourful tank, you should stick with community non-cichlids like tetras, platies, guppies, etc.

well id think one is kinda a stretch but ud have to have little other fish and keep a good eye on the tank angels can get kinda big.. but id go with some type of german ram they are very pretty and then get a few other schooling fish and maybe a couple ottos??

along the same lines as rams/apistos, what about kribs? i'd think they'd be ok since some of us having been talking about putting a pair in a 10 gallon lately.
