You can rinse it out with a mild bleach solution and dechlorinate well, if you're worried about it. As long as it has been dry, I wouldn't really worry about bacteria/parasites in it, but would worry more about soap residue or chemicals that may have gotten in it if it has been sitting around for a while.

I would leave it filled with water for at least a week before you put fish in.

Are you planning to transfer all your fish and decorations/gravel to the new tank? If not, please let us know what you plan to do, as it will affect the cycling of the tank.

For the Fluval, is it this model: http://www.hagen.com/uk/aquatic/product.cfm?CAT=1&SUBCAT=107&PROD_ID=01001750031001 if so, there's a manual you can download (PDF format). If not, try this link for your model: http://www.hagen.com/usa/aquatic/manual.cfm

mo the filter is the olde version. the bottom of the filter can be taken off to get to the filter mediam. its kinda weird as the filter sponge is in side a canister which is inside the base of the filter. the inpella fan suck the water through the sponge in the canister and the sponge must suck the water from the tank into the filter then into the canister that the filter sponge is in. i am plannig to trans everythin old filter, heater gravel air stone plants and fish so i dont think i neet to worry much about cycling the tank. i have somw safe water which is like bio spira it has nitrofying bacteria in it so i am planning on using pleny of that as well i also have som decorinating stuff so will be using that also.

cr*st i dident realise just ho small the 10 gal was took me almose an hour to transferr everything into the 30 gal and fill it up... the overall result is that it looks barren i thing i will have to get some gravel and more plants. the goldies seem to like their new 10 gal home although its a bit murky at the mo. im a bit dissapointed that it looks as barran as it does... oh well
