I've decided I want a new aquarium, only a small one 5-6 gallons. Which one would you recommend,

the 5 Gallon Mini-Bow http://www.petco.com/choicelisting.asp?tab=3&subtab=1&dept_id=1010&family_id=9201 or

the Eclipse System 6  http://www.petco.com/product_info.asp?sku=4743190150&tab=3&subtab=1&dept_id=1008

Anybody have an good luck with either of these? I have a 12 Gallon Eclipse that I love, so, I'm leaning towards that. What should I put in it? I have way to much free time to spend taking care of it, so that really isn't an issue, and I want to try something new. My Eclipse isn't planted, and has some gouramis, a platy, a molly, a swordtail, a loach, sum cories, and an oto. Any advise???

I vote for the System Six...I own one myself  ;D.  The mini-bow had a whisper filter in it, which I'm not keen on, and quite frankly, the colors those mini bows come in are just...ugly. The classy black of the System Six is really great, and since it's not as tall, it fits anywhere.  I've had mine a year with no problems so far.

I would get a 25 watt submersible heater if you plan on keeping tropical fish. Hang on the back heaters will not fit the Eclipse hood. Temperatures for tropical fish should be stable at 76 or 78 degrees F.

As far as what type of fish? Well, you're not going to get a community out of it. I would recommend four or five -very small- tetras (serpae, flame, pristelle, white skirt, black skirt, etc), or small gold barbs, checkerboard barbs, cherry barbs etc. But the fish would really have to be the smallest non-aggressive, won't kill each other off (like my five green tiger barbs did), type fish to handle the confines of a six gallong. I would not put in swordtails, platies, or mollies. They get too big and aggressive. Same with gouramis.  Two or three baby cories could go in a six though.

Just remember, the more well cared for your fish, the bigger they'll grow, so you'll have to move them to new accomodations when it is required.
