a 125 bio-wheel hmmm.... that's like tyhe smallest right? I use that for my 10 gallon, i guess you can call my tanks crystal clear. MY 10 has a 125 and my 20 gallon has the next one 225 or something like that. Use them there good, but loud, very loud and they get annoyingly loud sometimes. Sand cloudiness depends for my 10 gallon it took about 3 days. put the sand in first then put a plate in then put the water on the plate.

OH yeah it could setlle before or after my time (3days)

Good Luck

If you buy aquarium sand their is no need to wash it and also you wont have any cloudyness. If your filling only a 10gallon go ahead and pay the extra money for aquarium sand so you dont have to go thru the pain of washing and and waiting for it to clear up!

The penguin WILL keep your water crystal clear. As a matter of fact, it would probably keep water in a 30 or 40 gallon crystal clear too, but that's not to say that water quality will be perfect.

I think with your 20 gallon, that penguin will be fine as long as you perform the proper maintenance and don't overstock the tank.
