New filter

so i am getting a new filter for my 10 gal. its a aqua-clear 30 to replace my aqua-tech 5-15 so yea. I was just wondering can i just switch it like that or do i have to do something to get the bacteria regrowing on the filter again and do i have to do another cycle? thnks for the responses

what you can do to make the minicycle that is bound to happen as short and painless as possible, run BOTH filters for 2-3 weeks so that new bacteria will colonize on the new filter media.

In order to prevent a mini-cycle, put the AC on, but leave the aqua tech on there for about a month. This will give the bacteria adequate time to colonize the new filter.
