After satisfying myself that my tank was free of whatever problems it had a couple of months ago, I felt ok with adding some more members to my tank. I have a 150g with live plants and some big filters, plus some bubble wands as I have well water and it grows algae really well :-( In the tank previously were:

5 Clown Loaches, largest currently around 4 inches
5 Austrailian Rainbows, big suckers, largest around 5.5 inches
7 Giant Danios, again large, biggest around 3.5-4 inches
1 Clown Pleco

I added:

3 Marble Angels, about 2 inches, maybe 2.5 from nose-to- tail
3 Golden Angels, same size as above
1 Common Pleco, about 2.5 inches

The pleco was dead within 24 hours, to my shock. I checked water, again, and it was all within range and no ammonia or nitrites, although nitrates were slightly high (50 or so), so I did a 25% water change/gravel vac, even though I did one last weekend... Don't know what to make of that, thought they were hardier than that.

angels seem fine, although one of the Golden Angels has a gill that is rather red and looks a little sunken. Did I goof with the # I bought? I thought I was doing odd #s of each color, but did I really get an even # of Angels and the color doesn't matter? S/he does seem to get picked on a bit, but the entire tank seems more lively right now, as though the new members have shaken up all the hierarchies and they're re-jockeying for position. Is that plausible? (Well, the Loaches are still cool, lol). I did rearrange things a little and added a new plant, but the Rainbows and the Danios are really zipping around, chasing each other, although not making much contact. All the angels are eating well, btw, doggone, they are always hungry! And curious and friendly and I think I'm in love, lol.

And how much would you be feeding this lot if it were yours? I never am sure if I'm over or underfeeding! I usually do flakes, maybe 3/4 tsp (hard to tell as I don't measure, I just pinch), and a single 1/2 inch sinking pellet in the morning, then more flakes and a few (5-6) sinking shrimp pelletsin the evening But they've been begging at night when I put the light out, so I've given them another 1/4 tsp or so and it's gone within a couple minutes, so I *think* I'm underfeeding, but I don't know!)

Thnaks for any help/opinions.

as far as feeding goes i would measure in time not amount of food

about 3 minutes total for the day so if you want to feed them twice a day just feed them as much as they can eat in 1 1/2minutes at each feeding

its also good idea to fast them one day a week imo

your nitrates are a little high they should definately be kept under 40ppm but i keep mine under 20ppm...if you add some more plants (maybe some floating ones if you dont want to plant any more) they will use more of the nitrates and along with your regular water changes this might help keep your nitrates a little lower

Sounds to me like you are doing everything right, I agree with the plant/waterchanges as far as your nitrates being high. Or maybe look into getting a nitrate or phosphate sponge.
I also agree with the feedings but I usually do 5 Minutes a day. But I have more plants to suck up the nitrates.

as far as the pleco I think he was just a dud or super sensitive to nitrates.

and yes, everytime you add new fish, things have to be juggled around in the Heiarchy
