Its still up in the air about the 100% true ID, because there are 2 species that look almost identical at this age. Its either Pseudotropheus saulosi or Metriaclima sp. "Msobo".

I'll go with Pseudotropheus saulosi for now. I've forgotten how hard it was to take shots of Mbuna in a 55gal tank. They are crazy! Quality isn't great still, sorry. :(

They're too small yet for males to be changing..the odds of 10 juveniles all being female isn't all that high ;)

I still say they're Pseudos ;)
Heh, i hope they are Pseudos. Thats what they were sold as too so that helps the chances a little.

And yeah, gotta wait for the males. There might be about 1-2 out of the group only pushing 2"...so they have a little bit.

Their coloration is a little bit more of an orange hue then the typical yellow lab but not as orange as a Red Zebra. And its a constant color across their body and fins. Really nice.

Thanks on the comments

I left the store thursday leaving 4 of them behind still for sale. I REALLY couldn't resist and deal of 30% off all FW livestock...so i went today and picked them up.

Also grabbed 2 male Labeotropheus trewavasae which will eventually turn into a breeding group hopefully...if i can grab some females! Pics to come of these guys.

It's really hard leaving just a few behind, isn't it?
I always do the same thing you ended up doing in the end and just nabbing up all of them...It's an excellent justification (or excuse?! ) for getting more fish. ;)

awww they look so funny and cute lol. I have seen them before at my lfs and i have always loved the look of them. I believe their funny looking 'noses' are for scraping algae from rocks, is that right?

EDIT: and wow the females must have a hard time mouthbrooding with tiny mouths like that!

Yes thats correct. That mouth allows them to be in a current filled body of water while scraping the rocks. More steamline i guess you could say. Instead of having to turn their whole body perpendicular to the rock like other Mbuna.
