well I decided my red tail shovel nose cat has eaten enough fish and took him in to the lfs today. he was about 12 inches long and got 20 bucks for him. just enough money for me to get 2 new fishes :p. before I got the red tail shovel nose I had a large pictus cat that some how died when I was on vacation and my dad was caring for the tank and I decided to get a new one since they are so pretty. so he is now in my 55 gallon tank, and also got what my lfs called a red finned nasai or something like that. he just a juvie right now so in my 20 gallon till he gets big enough to go in my 55. and transfered my baby red shoulders to my 55. once the red fin gets big enough I plan to make the 20 gallon a community tropical.

Congrats on your new catfish!20$ for a 12" Red tail shovel nose is a steal.I would like to see a picture of your tank when its "set-up",sounds like a great community you have on your hands. Those peacocks will be a great add aswell.Im hoping that your red tail shovel nose wont eat them when he gets bigger due to their preditory nature. And i think your 55 gallon may cramp his style when he gets mature.May need to up-grade,but who am i to questions ones tank?

I sold my red tail shovel nose, not buy. I had about 20 fish in my 55 but as he got bigger the numbers started to drop. I only had about 4 left. 3 of the 4 lfs said they would give me nothing for him since he would be hard to sell and the market is kinda dead around here.

That cool.I also see you have a venustus in your 55 gallon.I use to own one.I bought a venustus with a pair of livingstonii's (close relative to the venustus/and great tankmates, hailing from the Haplochromis family in lake Malawi.)

Damn!Sorry to hear that.Ive had ick problems before but not to the extent of it killing off my fish.I had a bad case of fin-rot on 2 of my snow whites. One fin was almost completely rotted off.Luckly i saved her and the male.

well I was about 900 miles from home for a week and my dad was in charge of them. well he would feed them and then leave. he didn't know what to look for or anything and by the time I got home the fish that I lost were almost white with ich. I was mad but at the same time I couldn't blame him since he don't know anything about the fish.

most my fish were fine when I went to aruba for the week. my dojo loach died and a few of my juvie peacocks but that was it and there was noone here to feed them or anything the entire time I was gone.
