But I got them in a bad way :( Those fish that I was going to acquire from my "friend" had to be rescued last night, as this "friend" poured 2 ounces of Brandy and a 20oz Pepsi into the 10g tank last night. I'm not sure what else got put in the tank, but there appeared to be some kind of candy or toothpaste smeared on the inside of the tank as well. So I grabbed my net (which I use to grab floating matter, mind you) and a cup and rescued three of the four lil comets before the idiot realized what I was doing and kicked me out, threatening to call the police on me (which I would have welcomed). I'll be going back tonight to get the last fish, who miraculously survived.

I put them in a "spare" 10gal that I had lying around that I use for water changes and then ran out to K-mart at 1am (when all of this happened) and got a cheapo 10gal for a decent price, as well as a filter and some replacement filter bags. Par for the course at K-mart, the tank kit was missing the airstone but everything else was there, and the filter was missing the filter media, AND the filter replacement pack only had one media in it (but plenty of carbon). I'll be going back to K-mart when I get home to Greensboro to get an exchange for the filter and replacement media. Luckily i checked the tank kit, but somehow I missed the fact that it had no airstone, but I had a spare one lying around.

The new tank itself pretty much sux, since it can't really be fit with a filter, but I jerry-rigged it on there OK and grabbed the media from George's tank and put it in the new filter.

While I was planning on putting these guys into a nearby koi pond, I've kind of grown attached to them over the night (addicting, no?), as well as wanting to make sure they survive this ordeal :(

Ultimately, I'd like to put these guys in with George, my 4" common goldie, but I'm making sure they are healthy and disease free first. As well, I KNOW i'll need a bigger tank for 4 1.5" comets and a 4" common, but I dunno how big would be feasible at college. I was thinkin a 20 might do for now, right?

Anything I need to watch for with these new fish, given the ordeal they went through(Pepsi and brandy). I'm going to get some aquarium salt later today to help them get a tad stronger...

Oh, almost forgot. I am also concerned about putting these new guys in with george because he is so big compared to them, and I'm afraid he might harass them or take all the food...

oh, and since I used one of my nets in that nasty tank, how do I clean it sufficiently to make sure it doesn't pass any disease into the new tank. I guess I won't be using it in George's tank anymore, anyway...

Thanks guys... and ugg!

since your not sure what else was put in the tank i would suggest getting a new net. i would think that the comets and george would get along fine as long as there is enough food or it could get a bit narsty. i would suggest adding the comets and then keeping a close eye on the tank for a couple of days to make sure george isnt upset by their presence. good luck and big thumbs up for saving them (i had to do the same last week for 2 tiger barbs and 2 cherry barbs!)
