--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi,

I'm new here and had a few questions regarding my cichlid fry.

First of all..I only noticed that my red zebra was holding last week. I since had it isolated in a floating breeding tank. I was gone for a week and my husband was taking care of my fish. About two days ago, my husband called and told me that the holding female had somehow got OUT of the breeding tank and she was no longer holding

How she got out...and why...I have no idea...

BUT the good news is...I found 2 little babies alive and well in the breeding tank today. That is a really nice surprise but now the question is...

Should I keep the babies in their breeding tank...they are so tiny...

And I noticed that these two babies have been MOUTH fighting... and they are so little! I had to break up the fight twice this morning...are they just "playing"?

Thanks!

Wht cichlid u hv?
Most of the cichlids are the best of parents. One of the most vivid phenomenon of cichlids is their level of parental care. A 3" ram can potentially defend its babies from a full grown texas while breeding. So i'd not seperate the parents frm the fry provided there are no other tank mates.
Fry are mischivous & playful. Sometimes they hv competition. But its just fun 2 watch & not a prob.
1 prob u may hv is if the parent is unaware tht the fry is not her's she may eat the fry.
