I got a new kid in the tank! New peacock that followed me home from the LFS.

10mins in the tank and this one fish has me sitting here with a huge grin on my face...i love it. He is aggressivly trying to attack himself in the glass, more so then any of my other fish i've had before. And his colors...oh man his colors. This is a top notch male here.

Pics to come once he gets a little more bold. Always wanted one of this species, finally got one. *celebrate

Saltwater ain't got nothing on this guy!

Well i have some pictures, not the best. Dirty glass and a still fairly shy fish prevent any great pictures, but here is what i have so far.

Oh yeah, and he shows more Orange then in the pictures...the flash brings out the blue on the body more then the naked eye can tell.

Heres a little Macro for ya ;)

Very beautiful fish in my opinion. Was a HUGE impulse buy, haha. I planned on going to the LFS for some Mbuna, and came out with just this guy instead....the Mbuna are gonna have to wait until after christmas i guess.

Tell me what you think!

He is absolutly BEAUTIFUL! I now know why someone told me the German Reds are so much nicer than the Ruby Reds.
Since these are line bred fish, there is a huge variation between both Ruby Reds, Rubescens, German Reds...
This Ruby Red is pretty awesome (I wish it was mine)...

I also had a "true" Ruby Red that was actually red and not orange, but he died after 4 months. I thought he was probably hormoned, but after 4 months he kept his color.

Matt,
The more I look at yours, the more I like him :) He has a nice blue face and the design and color on the fins looks excellent...very good find :)

Thanks, there were 3 in the tank with him, he was the shyest of the 3...yet the most dominant when he was out, espeicially when food was put in the tank. So i decided on him over the others.

So far he hasn't bothered his tank mates yet...3 small (2") Lemon Jakes.
