Hi everyone,

I have a new platy but for the life of me I cannot find out what kind she is.

She is a metallic silver with a bright orange top fin and the far end of her tail has metallic blue and the very tip before the fin has a strip of black.

I will try and get a picture of her, she is just wonderful to see!

Edit: Ok here she is in the picture. Any ideas of what kind of platy she is?

the round dot by the black stripe on the tail looks like a micket mouse platy, but the color and stipe where the mouse ears should be is odd.

Question- Are you quarantining these new fish efore adding them to your tank?

Lotus says two week minimum for quarintine, as painful as that is. Longer for wild caught fish.

You're right it does look like that picture. It's hard to say because iirc platys can interbreed and are often housed with other breeds.

She looks like a variation on the Mickey Mouse Platies. Some of the "Mickey Mouses" are better formed on some fish than others. It looks like she's a "she" but with her fin clamped. A better picture from the side will tell for sure. A very pretty fish, she must look lovely in your aquarium! :)
