New Rams!

#1
Picked up a new pair of rams to add to the collection and they're quite different from the usual, I might say.

Hoping this one's a female.

And not to leave the oldies out...

My shrimpy gold that hasn't grown since I bought it. Thought it to be female at first but I'm pretty sure it's a male now.

And the nice little German blue pair.

Pretty rams!

Is there a name for these rams? Are they a crossbreed? Maybe a different species?
Just Electric Blue Rams. And I don't think they're hybrids or a different species, just a color sport. I believe they might have originated in Germany but I just had someone mention they came across pictures of them out of Asia so who knows where they originally started. I just hope they stick around and aren't as difficult to keep as other odd color sports in cichlids like the EBJD or Titanium Flowerhorn.

Wow, I've never seen these before. So you think they're a line-breed variant and not or different species?

Pft, they are pretty none the less! Looks like someone shot paint splatters at them hah.

Congratulations. Beautiful fish! Great pics. I saw these yesterday at the LFS , they had them labled neon blue rams. $40 , no guarantees. I must admit I was tempted even without the warranty.

I would not purchase one for $40. Just seems to much for a ram. In any case I expect the price on the to drop as they increase in availability. I've already heard of them being sold for less than $18 each but I suppose it does depend on your location as well.

those are beautiful fish (all of them) that you have.
Thank you very much! :D

Beautiful rams! *thumbsup2 what are your ideas for breeding the electric blue's?
No ideas. Right now I'm just hoping they'll pair. If/When they begin to show interest in one another I'll set them up in a tank of their own. ;)

Wow those are great looking rams. Its been quiet some time since ive checked back into the aquarium scene and this is a pleasant suprise.

Its nice to see some new traits exploited in these little guys. Selective breeding is something Ive been familiar with a few apistos. But last I've been around the rams didnt have any unique varients like this one. Great looking fish straitjacket, also nice camera too, those are some good photos.
