Just a quick note to say thanks to SoulFish for earlier advice. My fishless cycle completed on friday and on Saturday I put in:-
6 cyprichromis leptosoma ("kekeke" I am told) 2m 4f
4 julidochromis transcriptus
3 synodontis multipunctatus

tonight I'm picking up 6 leleupi longior and maybe an adult male transcriptus if he smiles nicely!!

Altogether the tank looks absolutely fantastic, I am thrilled with the result. Wife's not so chipper about the cost but hey, flowers are cheap!!

Thanks for the advice SoulFish, you've been an inspiration! (Couldn't get syno. petricola though)

....finally, a word to anyone who hasn't tried fishless cycling. It works, try it.

no pics yet, sorry, will post once the film's developed.

As Paul says, Tang is short for Tanganyika as in the Lake, not Tang the saltwater reef fish or mis-spelt tank. :)

the tank is 48x15x18

So far the julies are still busy grabbing all the caves and keeping the leleupi out, they were squabbling amongst themselves until the leleupi arrived. Interesting was that the adult julie arrived and was immediately nipped by what was previously the largest julie, about a quarter of the size. That little julie has got a running battle with the largest leleupi, so my eye is on him the little bugger!

yep, but at the price they were I'm relying on them multiplying themselves! Fancy a pair of calvus or compressiceps next!

main issue seems to be the julies keeping the leleupi out of the caves, the leleupi went in 2 days after the julies. so tonight it'll be a major redecoration so they can all start from scratch

just to report the redecoration was a success, now the julies are chasing themselves around, as are the leleupi but they're leaving each other alone!

the cyps are beautiful, such curious creatures they even explore the caves....

not yet, will take photos on the weekend, use up the film and get them developed and scanned asap. problem with conventional cameras (and crap operators!) is you've no idea whether the results will be usable
