After having left my tank on its own for too long, i finally decided to work again on it.

Its a 53 gal planted tank ( with a lot of algae to tell you the truth, yes i ashamed). Inhabited with Tang species:
2 leleupi
1calvus
3 julies dickfeldi
and finally a yellow lab that lives peacefully with them
dont know their true age, but i bought them last year.

my first step is to get rid of the algae, but after that i was thinking about having a new mate or 2 for my little fishies

any of you have suggestions about it?

what i would like to see is more interaction beeetween the same specie, maybe have some breeding, that would ne nice. Another specie that i dont have for the moment is also interresting...

so, could i add one more mate of one of the specie in my tank to increase the chance to have babies or am i playing with fire with their territories?

Hi janlo! long time no see

How long is this tank agian? If it's at least 4 foot long then I'd think about getting some regular cyprichromis. They are a schooling fish, and are probably the best dither fish for Tangs I had ever seen. Males have very nice colors too. :)

thanx orion

yeah cyprichromis i thought about that...
my lfs do not have those fish in stock, but maybe they could command some for me

anyway i saw that they had Paracyprichromis nigripinnis blue neon ....looks interresting!

they look like cypri, but ive read they are more into rock like regular tangs... so i guess adding some would mess up the territories in my tank...

I would only stick to a single species of julie. Not so much that two species will fight any more than a single species will, but there is a pretty good chance that they will cross breed. Some people say that the dwarves will not breed with the regular ones, but why take a chance. If you mixed the dwarf species with a normal one in such a small tank I would fear that the larger julies would harrass the smaller ones to the point of stressing them out pretty bad.

ok so i bought a trio of Neolamprologus brevis , finally. Even if they are brownish i love these little shellies.. never saw before a fish living in a shell, so for me its fascinating.

they already chosed their shell, protecting their territory, and i think i already have a couple since 2 are sharing the same shell. Awsome behavior.

is there anyone else here who has some tangs beside me and Orion?

lol, yes when I had my brevis the male would always violently defend his shell and attack my hand when ever it was in the tank. Never brought blood, but not because he didn't try!

Great looking fish Janlo, and great pictures! :)
