New Tank underlayment?

#1
Getting my replacement tank should I put foam or rubber under my tank??? My stand is made out of steel and will not flex at all. I know it is level and flat but my last tank broke on the bottom. Perfecto said they had a problem with their glass when that tank was made and are replacing it for free. I know some people put foam or rubber on their stand to take out any imperfections in the stand. I guess it would even out any pressure pionts but is it needed??? And what size 1/4 or 1/2???? regular foam or dense??? my tank is 150 gal (48 inches by 24 inches)

I've heard of several people putting styrofoam under the tanks just like you say, to prevent presure points. I've never done it on a large tank, but I would think I would go with at least half inch. I don't know the difference between regular or dense, but I would venture a guess and say dense.

Its really up to you. I've spoken to some people who have not used anything on the stand and tanks 200 gallons + have been fine for many years. And other's who would not setup a 10 gallon without it.
