New tank

Im contemplating getting a new tank. I have a 35 Gal freshwater. I can get a 240 US gallon tank 96x24x24 for £450. Does that sound reasonable or overkill?  What kind of fish numbers would be comfortable in it?  Might go marine! Scary!  *thumbsupsmiley*
