Since none of the African cichlid keepers seem to have chimed in yet, I'll give you a 'nice' tip...go CA/SA next time! :p

Kidding, of course. ;)

All I can say is congrats on the new setup.
I'm sure the African cichlid fanatics will be jumping all over this thread soon. Maybe I'll learn a thing or two about keeping Africans as you show us your progress.

What species did you get? Pics?

Hey BV! You stop your "Anti-African" Parade right this instant! :p

Well, since its a large tank, you should cram a few more africans in there, I'd make it about 12-16 in total. Oh Pics please :)

Whoa there Katie, before you start giving numbers for stocking, we need to know the species. There are a lot of different africans and a lot of different mixes. You could easily have 25-30 demasoni in a 55gal tank, but not even one N. venustus or D. compressiceps ;)

Are you able to get pictures of your new fish?

yea i tried the whole 15-20 bit... and I mean 15-20 different Africans. I think that was why mine kept dieing, I had to many different ones all together. I have 6 different ones now, that stay alive, plus a rafael and a pleco (pleco was just added). Def, post some pics! pretty pics are goooood! When I move out I want to get a really big tank!

ya definitly look like mbunas to me. it would be alot easier to id them with some pics *thumbsups. ya i would definitly go out and get some rocks to form caves for them (the word mbunas means rock dwelling). as they get older and bigger they will become territorial and need those caves. i would probably go to you local landscaping place and grab a few river rocks or something else (your choice) to put in there. they are a lot cheaper then the lfs. oh by the way cute video!!
