Looking though the latest Foster & Smith catalog I noticed they are offering some new types of media of which I've never heard of before. I was wondering if anyone has had any experence with these, or can even enlighten what some are even supposed to do. I can see the use of some, but other seem like snake oil to me.

Here's what the description says:

Calcium & Magnesium - Natually supplements calcium and magnesium

Far Infrared-Rays - Helps improve metabolism and enchance coloration

Anion - Helps neutralize free-radicals with anti-oxidant properties

Silver Ion - Helps minimize microbal pathogen growth

Anybody have any thoughts on why these work, or don't?

I don't know that I would try the silver ion one. Silver is known to be a great antimicrobial. Would be worried that it would have a negative effect on beneficial bacterial colonies.

Humm... yes, I would be interested in hearing some personal experiance with these as well. Seems the calcium one would be benificial to my snails, shrimp, and future crays/crabs.
