Hello everyone... I am new here and am fairly new to cichlids. I have a question... I have a socolofi that terrorizes all the other fish in the tank and what's funny to me is that I also have a jewel fish which is pleasant as can be. All the stories I have heard about jewels we completely the opposite.
What's the deal with my socolofi???

Depends on the sizes of the Fish...You will find as the Jewel matures anmd becomes the larger of the lot he will dominate and show his true colours...especially when they are breeding...Socolofi's seem to bully when they are the larger fish.

It seems because he is the larger of the lot he is the dominator, it is normal for Cichlids to do this and sometimes they do kill off other fish, if the bullying carries on I would remove the socolofi from the tank. Good luck

Thanks for your help. I think I may have to. I don't have a place to put the socolofi which means I have to get rid of him. I really don't want that. I went out yesterday and purchased two new fish I believe they are peacocks but not quite sure yet. And my socolofi is still pushing people around. Oh yea I lost my bubblebee Friday as well it has been heartbreaking.

It is hard having to give your fish away especially such a neat fish like a socolofi...but the way he is acting it seems he going to kepp on going this way. You have definately made the right decision.

For the record I punked out and did not give away the socolofi... I'm probably sounding like somebody's abused girlfriend.... Ok if he does it again I'm getting rid of him... this is the last time!? ;)
