tre, what have you heard bad about them?
besides that they are nearly impossible to keep long term ... they also die a slow and ugly death.. that being said alvepora is suposed to be a little easier to keep than gonipora the differance being alvepora has 12 tenacles and gonipora has 24 i think ;)

Goniopora is the hard one, not Alveopora. The problem though is getting the Alveopora to eat. But once thats done your good to go. Granted that can be hard with some specimans but I know someone who has had this coral alive in his tank for a number of years, so I have some hope.

well against all good judgement I purchased a really nice piece of alveopora about 6 months ago. It has slowly succumbed and is barely alive now. I tried everything to feed it and keep it much to my distress. It is sad as they are beautiful animals.........but I now agree, best left in the ocean. Good luck Geek, I hope yours fares much better than mine.......

(I even tried taking it out and bowl feeding it, no luck)
