...but the betta forum is always dead, so I figured I'd show you guys!

Every once in a while, I totally luck out on fish. Today was one of those days.

Richard and I had yesterday and today off, so we drove about two hours north to see my parents and sister for a late Thanksgiving dinner. Once there, of course, I have to hit up their pet stores...they don't usually have a lot (small city, even compared to where I live), but there's one store in particular that occasionally has a little something different. Well, I happened upon four absolutely stunning plakat Betta males (my absolute favorite) with colours I've only drooled over on Aquabid pictures! I have never, ever seen anything close to these colours in stores locally. I figured they must have specially ordered them in, and was expecting a $20 price tag each or something - not that it would have stopped me. But oh no....they were $4.99 each!!! I took all but one, and only because it was the same as one of the ones I did bring home. And...one of them is an absolutely gorgeous copper male, which I have been completely longing for, forever! Don't have any really good pics yet, but they've only been in the tank for a few minutes. No pics of the third one yet either, who is black and orange.

Here's my copper boy!

He's flaring at his reflection on the back tank wall...I can't get pics of it because he's too near the surface and too far back for the camera to focus on him, but oh god he's gorgeous!

This guy is equally as stunning, very unique. Bit of metallic/copper in him as well.

WOW! nice find especially for $4.99! Last copper I saw in my area was $30 at Big Al's and he wasn't half as nice as that one. The real PO about him though was I didn't even have him 12 hours... Jumped some time the night I got him.

Cant wait to see the other one. Black and orange sounds pretty cool.

Lol yeah, I suppose. I've never really tried breeding bettas before, just half-assed occasionally and it never panned out. I'd have to find some pretty spectacular females for these boys though.
