Hey again everyone!

Okay, so today I went to my LFS and bought me 1 more black neon tetra to go with my other 4. When I brought him home, and before I put him in the tank, I noticed he has white spots, (not Ich cause it is totally different), on the inside of him. They are small, and below his top fin. I have it in a quarantine tank right now. Does anyone know what it is? PLEASE!? He shows no kinds of stress or anything, and no, there is no Ich on him anywhere else. All ammonia, nitrates, etc... readings are all just fine.

no no no, they are bigger dots, and are inside of him, right in-between top (is that the dorsal fin), and his intestines and what-not in the middle region of his body. There are only like 3 of them!

Columnaris? From what I've heard, if it is columnaris heating your tank to 85 and adding a little salt will only speed up the disease.

If you have white spots that you're sure aren't ich dose with an antibacterial and antifungal. I use melafix and pimafix together. Others should work too. Melafix/Pimafix aren't cheap meds in comparison.

NOTE: Melafix is not suggested for labyrinth fish, such as ALL gouramis and bettas. Use Bettafix and DO NOT overdose.

NOTE: Medications can have adverse effects on aquarium life without scales. So, if you're going to treat your tank, move the Oto and Ghost Shrimp.

Good luck. Time is of the essence. A fish can go from super happy and playful to belly up overnight.

define "inside" how do you see "inside his body" or do you mean inside as in between his dorsal and anal fins so more on the body instead of "inside"

I still suggest that you return him and get a healthy fish

so by inside you mean on his body and not his fins.

AGAIN return that fish before it infects your tank. They will swap it out as long as you don't keep it too long.

Probably fungal of some sort treat with general fungal treatment, remove shrimp while treating

inside = in the guts as in inside his skin where his organs are

on his body = on his skin/scales

ok return the sick fish in any event. most places have at the very least 7 days on livestock

too late...it died in the QT tank. Im gonna take it up to the store and get a refund...i don't need another one of those. i just wanted it to make the numbers more even with my other fish...i got a new otocinclus by the way to go along with my other one. Its so small, and it loves to eat...hopefully it won't die, now i probably jinxed it!
