A bad thing!! Of course not!! When I got my 55g tank I didn;t watch TV for a month. I was always on the internet reading about anything aquarium related. this hobby is addictive if you have the patience for it. Less then a year ago all I had was a 29g tank and now I have 6 full blown aquairums.

I'm obssesed, but my gf won't let me go any further YET.

Especially considering i am still paying the credit cards off for the ones i have.

Cuz I'm sure I can always scare up some money and some room for a new tank *SUNSMILE*

Cuz who needs a bed anyway :)

Dogmaiwli...your gf not letting you go any farther sounds like a personal problem and doesn't belong on this site...LOL.

But yes, this hobby is so addicting. A lifetime ago in high school, I used to breed angels for fun. At that time I had a 20g, 2-10g's and a 5g. And yes, wives and gf's do put a damper on things, but now I have a 39g looking to go 125g withing the next year.

If my wife knew what I had invested in my current tank she would kill me. But that's what keeps life exciting!!!!!

Hey I found a pretty good work around for wives and GF on this. (At least it works for me)

Get them interested in it. Find a fish that she likes, I mean, really likes, and promise her that if you can get a bigger tank for _____________ (insert fish here), then you will give her your old one to keep her favorite fish in. Hey, thats how I got my 45gal. Turned a 20 into a goldfish tank.

hehe, it will look a little funny if a few goldfish are in a 45 whenever we get the space for something bigger! :)

I don't know if I'm really obsessed, I think I just like it.

I could never go a month without television no matter how much I loved fish! LoL. I just found out Khleo Thomas got his "big break" on Kids Say the Darndest Things, so I've been obsessed with watching for him every night.

I have my computer and tv in my bedroom. the room is small (like 8x8) So there was just enough room for my desk/computer and tv on a dresser. I wanted another tank, so I went out and bought a TV tuner (best one possible) and gave my tv to my girlfriend. I pushed the dresser right about against the desk, now I have room for a 40 gallon + stand :)

Yeah I'm obsessed right now! I just hope I don't suddenly get unobsessed and have all these fish to take care of :p

It's funny to me that there's a bunch of guys with wives and girlfriends who have problems with the tanks! I don't see why it would be a gender thing.

lets see...it all started about 8 yrs ago when i saw my cousins fishtank. i thought it was sooo cool. so i read everything i could, talked to every breeder and person i could find, went to all the pet stores, and then, 2 yrs ago, bought a betta. he pulled a Jedi mind trick on me and i soon had 50+ bettas, then i was breeding them. then gramma commented on how nice it would be to have a few fish in a tank in the living room where she could see it. soon i had her 10 gal set up. then i got another 5 ten gallon tanks and set up more tanks for bettas. i then bought a 30 gallon tall custom tank (think a 20 gal high with another 10 gallons on top of it), and soon a 20 gal, 25 cube, and eventually a 55. now i have tanks everywhere, and am in the middle of buying another 55 and a 29 long ($50!!! for both!!!!). In 3 yrs or so, i will hopefully have my own home and be ready to construct a 475 gallon tank, and a fish room with about 20 (20 gal ea) tanks on one wall and 20 (10 gal ea) and 10 (5 gal ea) on the other side, and including my 2 55 gallon tanks and my 2 29 gallon tanks in the main house somewheres.

So to answer. it is an addicting hobby.

Hmm.. . it looks to me like the men are the ones that normally have the problem woth women bering in animals. I guess with fish it's the other way around, but I don't see why!!

Oh yeah to whoever said they moved there TV to fit a aquarium in there room. My room is TINY stuffed with as many pieces of furniture possibley. Recently I moved my 13" TV put it on the floor on the other room and packed away my Playstation2 to fit my 15g tall tank in it's place!!;)

I am one of those girls who has a boyfriend who says "no more fish"! Right now I have a 10 gallon (my first) but I have another 10 gallon in a box ready to be set up in the next few weeks. I am also planning to get a 29 gallon for my bedroom but dont tell him that! He's pretty good though about coming with me to fish stores and such and I am working on convincing him to get a tank of his own :)
