Oceanic Systems

Anyone have any experiance with those tanks? I'm looking at the Metal's Collection for a 46g tank. I was wondering if the combo came with the stand or not but i've been searching google and it i really havent found any new info.

Also, are they good tanks overall?

Thnx

Never had one, but I belive that the oceanic tanks are some of the best built tanks you can get. I think they were recently bought out by marineland (maybe?), but that for the most part have still maintained the quality.

I would look around at retailers to see if the stand comes with the tank or not. It can be expensive to have a tank shipped, so I would check around at your LFS's first to see if they carry them, or can order it for you. That can sometimes come out a little cheaper than if you were have it shipped yourself.

Those are great tanks. Several fish stores in the city are Dealer of those systems, including Aquarium Concept in Oklahoma City.

I am the PROUD owner of an Oceanic Tank and I will have to tell you that you MUST buy the stand that comes with it... Or the Guaruntee is null and void. It is a very well built aquarium. The glass thickness is alot more then others on the market. you can be rest assured if you get one of these aquariums.

Oh, so then they tank doesn't come with a stand? Because if it is a combo package shouldn't it come with the stand?

I would think if it was a combo the stand should be included. One thing tho if you do get the tank, you must buy an Oceanic stand specifically made for that tank. I know Petsmart is clearancing out SEVERAL Oceanic Combos.... you should check into that first. I got my system there about 6 months ... I bought the 30 g Cube and stand for 200.00. They normally sell the combo for close to 400 if not more at other stores. I was there a few days ago and saw several combos on sale.

Oceanic tanks are nice. When I was looking for a 46g bowfront last fall, my usually-reliable LFS owner told me that All-Glass and Oceanic were under the same ownership. I ended up with a Perfecto (marineland) tank from Petsmart instead because it was a good deal.

Also remember, when looking at glass thickness between aquariums, check to see if there is a difference in the type of glass - Plate glass will have to be thicker, as it is not as strong as tempered glass. The downside of tempered glass is that it 'explodes' when it breaks.

Yea, I'm looking at the same tank, a 46g bowfront from the metal's collection. Is it made from plate glass?

Tempered glass are top recommened use for aquarium tanks. They do not explode in shattered pieces. In fact, they remain as one tough piece (usually) and break all around within itself.

Ahhhh yes all-glass bought perfecto, not marineland. I knew it was one of those company's that bought them. ;)

I've yet to see a new tank for sale that is plate glass. All the ones I see have the little 'tempered glass' sticker on the bottom. I do have an older 45 gallon that I'm pretty sure is plate glass. It has more of a greenish tint to it and weighs almost as much as my new(ish) 75 gallon does.
