Of Egg Crate and Filter floss

Two newbie questions today.

First, is eggcrate necessary in a 75 gal tank if there is not going to be a lot of rock? Is there any downside to using it? (i.e. can't vacuum down to the bottom of the substrate etc.)

Second, can you use ordinary pillow stuffing type poly fiber as filter floss? Saw a whole bunch of this stuff at the houseware store and it got me to wondering.

#1To be honest I've seen or heard of very few tanks that cracked due to the weight of rocks. And the ones that have it could not be said that without a doubt it was the rocks. Eggcrate is just cheap insuance if you want to use it. So no.

#2 Yes. Actualy they also sell it in rolls, and I've found that the rolls are much easier to work with.
