Last night my mom sent my girlfriend on a mission to get panty hose at walmart.

Since my mom let her use her discount card, she also bought some fish.

I personally never buy fish from there. But she did (it was so cute!) so I would really like to keep them. I know they are cichlids. But heres the dillema:

1) I dont have any clue what kind of cichlids they are.
2) The only "free" aquarium was the one used for my baby fry. My female molly recently died so I gave the cichlids that 10gal.

There are four altogether. And if you guys could help me identify them that would be great. Ill describe them:

1) Bright orance color, about 2.5 inches long, and a small circle white spot (doesnt apear to be ich or disease) on its anal fin.
2) One, the smallest, is a creamy white color, with red eyes (albino?) and is about 2 inches, maybe a centimeter or two smaller, and has that same small dot on the anal fin as the one above (but not as prominent, barely visable).
3) Another is a slight blueish color, with darker stipes falling from its back, about 5 of them. This ones about 2 inches long as well.
4) The last one is bigger than the rest and looks to be some sort of comouflage (hehehe). Hes a slight grey with splotches of a foresty green dotting his entire body and is about 3.5 inches.

If anyone could help identify those and could help me fiure out the best way to care for them and tell me if a ten gallon is safe for them (at least untill a time when I can get a bigger tank for the lil guys) I would be most grateful.

Thank you!

I really dont know what to say, mostlikely they will NOT be able to stay in the 10g for long. Also Cichlids in general need heavily ffiltered tanks.

It is going to be really hard to help you out with that information that you provided. You can try to look through some websites and galleries and see what fish they look similar to. This site has a gallery, you could also try these sites

Ive actually seen very little agression towards each other since ive gotten them. I looked at where walmart keeps them and it seems to me that my tank is a paradise compared to what they were in.

But then again...it IS walmart.

oops...sounds like a Haplochromis/Nimbochromis Livingstoni... this one can reach a top size of 12" or else 35cm.... only for him a 55is the minimum tank..

the others sounds like pseudotropheus species...but yes post pics

the orange one is a female of what could be any number of malawi mbuna (pseudotropheus, labidochromis, maylandia, etc etc etc)

the blue one would probably be a male mbuna, though a few species have females that are close in color to their males.

red eyes, white color = albino ;)

does the grey splotchy one have a bit of yellow on his/her head? If so, it sounds like a nimbo. venestus, which also get really big. I had one come with my new 55g, and I got rid of her.

I'm thinking that number 3 sounds like a female pseudotropheus lombardai. It is also possible if this is the species, with it being a juvenile, it could possibly be a male. I bought what I thought to be 2 females (both light blue) and one of them started to change colors. Actually started to mature into his male yellow color. What a trip. Good luck.
