ok after the test of tap vs. tank

i tested tap for ph was low but in tank is high?????? Every thing else is good, my tank is almost done cycleling, what is up!!! mmmmm "sounds of brain working"

Take the water to a LFS and have them test it to make sure your test is reading right.

What readings are you getting? Also, what decorations/gravel do you have in the tank? Some types of rock and dead coral will raise the tank pH.

Test your tapwater after it has sat out for 24 hours. A lot of water will have gas in it which lowers the pH. Once that has gassed off, you'll get a truer reading.

To be honest, pH is one of the simplest tests. As long as you're not color blind, you should get an approximate reading with whatever you use.
