Ok stupid Betta question

Today for the first time I just noticed where the bottom fins meet the body under his head there is a white elongated thingie.... almost looks like a little maggot but I'm sure it's not that.

Is that poop???

Did a water change 2 days ago, fed him twice today and that is all. He's swimming around just fine.

Ok, I'm thinking that was his wanker.

Now he's all *ALL* at me cause I pulled him out of his tank for a quick looksee and it's not really present now like it was when I pulled him out.

No idea if I'm on the right track here but it ain't sticking out no more. He is back in his tank, acting all macho cause the light is one again so I can watch him.
