Hey all, So I have two HOB filters here that I took apart and cleaned thoroughly before storing.... now I've got all the pieces, but when I but them back together again, to be sure that they would work and gave them a test run in the bath tub, they just would not work!! The electronics are fine, but there just is no suction up into the intake tube :( It basically just swishes around the water I put in there prior to plugging it in!!

What am I doing wrong? I've got the instructions, I've made sure I have all the pieces, and I've taken it a part and put them together two times for each!!!

help :)

One is an Aqua Clear 300, and the other is the standard Petcetera HOB filter that comes with the 10 gallon tanks.

HOB filters take a minute or so to prime, so I always fill mine up with water before turning them on, then all they need to do is suck the air out of the intake hose and after that they run fine. Also, I have on several occasions had to wiggle the impeller assembly a little bit to get them to start.

So again, that's fill, wiggle, shake.
