So I wake this morning, I pop some waffles into the toaster. While I'm waiting for my waffles to finish I pulled some brine shrimp food out of the freezer to go feed my fish. The light to the aquarium was turned off, not really wanting to turn it on I just toss the food in, the second i did that and went to shut the lid the biggest oscar of the bunch does his best impression of free willy out of the aquarium onto the floor *BOUNCINGS !!!!! I hurried up and grabbed my net, picked him up real quick and put him back in the tank. He sat there in shock for about 5 seconds then started eating like nothing ever happened!!! It was crazy, first time thats ever happened to me, although I can't say I'm suprised they go after the food like idiots. Anyone have anything similar happen to them?? *GOLDFISH*

Not with Cichlids. My Black Widows are just the same tho.As soon as food is there they're jumpin'.I have like a little hatch in the plastic cover that I have to close pretty smartish after putting the food in or there's water everywhere.

No worries Dubster, oscars are notorious jumpers, hehe. At the fish store I used to work at we had one we nicknamed "Little S**t" because he'd tank-hop 4-5 tanks over to either side and feast on the poor fishies that lived within. Also about once a week we'd hear a nice wet fishy plop and sure enough, he'd be on the floor looking rather perplexed. Even with lids on the tanks he'd find a way to jump out.

Oh yeah he had a great ride, it earned him a new name "Willy" *BOUNCINGS From now on I will just dump their food in back by the filter so there are no more shinanigans lol.

Had a paradise fish do that, jumped out of a 10g while my mom was feeding. Later jumped out through the itty little holes in the cover, while no one was in the room...
