Hello All, I have a 55 gallon tank, with a 30-60 aquatech power filter, and ugf with 2 power heads. and one long buble strip.
5 pink (albino) corys
5 sissortail rasboras
1 pl*eco
1 molly ( lost 2 in my old tank rest their souls)
5 neons
4 black tetras

Is this enough filtration? Their is definetly a current going on in my water, so i would say oxygen is enough, as far as amount of fish I'm not sure on, Too many? How many more could I add? EEvryone in my tank gets along great.

thanks for any opinions, good and bad :) Niki

Actually i'm not totally sure how many gph the hang over the back filter does, but the power head are 170 gph each. I got my tank at walmart as a combo thing, filter included, i looked all thru the pamflit that came with the filter, but no where does it say what the gph are.

Also, idoes a ugf work as a biological filter? cause my filter now doesn't have a biowheel on it? should i have one?

thanks again, niki

what number does the aquaclear have on top of it, the filter and the UGF are both bacterial filter, bacteria just needs surface area to grow foam, carbon or anything in the filter will give this along with the gravel in teh tank, biowheels just provide lots of space and give it easy access to oxygen which helps it

the aquatech just says by regent on it, no numbers anywhere on it. :( I do know that is sucks pretty good cause i watched a leaf fall off one of my live plants and in about 15 seconds is was stuck on the filter strainor which was all the way accross the tank. How many gph should it be?

Aquatech is made by the same company that makes Bio-wheel. The 30-60 that comes with the wal-mart 55 gal version is the same exact filter as the Bio-wheel 330 (so both are 330gph) just without the wheels. I have one of each on my 55 gal and it is, as soul said, plenty of filtration.

I've heard they make a bio-wheel attatchment for the aquatechs, does any one know where I can get this? I've looked at my pet stores but can't sem to find one, I was hoping for somewhere online. And with an undergravel filter, do I need one? I figure I can't hurt!
