I have been doing RO water runs for close to 2 yrs now... and it is GETTING OLD!!!!!
I have been looking at RO Units on the web and found a few that interest me.
I live in an apartment and I need to find something that I could hookup only when I need it, ie: portable....
Here is what I found so far....

eBay: CRYSTAL QUEST COUNTERTOP SINGLE CARTRIDGE W9-10,000 GAL (item 320064404137 end time Apr-20-07 20:08:31 PDT)

And this one:
eBay: CRYSTAL QUEST PORTABLE REVERSE OSMOSIS 3 STAGE!!! (item 320065198361 end time Mar-25-07 19:44:35 PDT)

i just use regular tap water from sink, then add stress coat, the RO units are nice but look a the size of your tank, then look at the life of the cartridge for the RO unit. The ones i have seen here are good for about 25-50 gallons of water before they need to be replaced, and replacement costs about 20 dollars. So after four water changes i would have to replace the cartridge. I think it gets pricey so i have went the tap water route with no problems with fish health or tank conditions.

with the two listed above if you had to get one i would go with the first one, 10000 gallons is nice, but look where the RO water comes from a little tiny tube about the size of an air tube, you know how long that will take to fill a five gallon bucket to fill a tank. You would be there all day filling the tank. JMO. How bad is the water in your area? I know where i grew up the water was orange, so i would have to use RO water source but where i am now, san diego the water is not good to drink, but i use in my tanks with no problems.

The second one didn't mention changing cartridges, i don't know how it works but 50 gallons a day so to me that means it resets or something so it can be reused constantly... hope my opinion helped in some way
