The biggest baby in my house is my oscar. I bought two lasst jan. both just a little over 3in. About april, one started picking at the other. At first there wasnt much harm done, but the one kept getting more and more violent to the other one. We eventualy sold the mean one to the LSF and kept the one that was picked on.

Now that the basic background info is covered, my question..... any ideas on a suitable tankmate for him? We tried a pacu that was about half his size, chanel catfish; about 6 in; and 2 pl*co's and after a year has passed only one of the pl*co's remain ( now living happily in our goldfish tank), all the rest passed on due to either Eddie(thats my oscars name:cool: ) streesing them to the point of illness, or he ate them. My poor other pl*co was the only one to get ate, and he didnt even eat all of him! The only thing that he didnt bother was a 4in convict. He acted scared to death of that thing!! He just sat in the corner on the bottom for the week that we had the convict. We took the convict back and by the time we got back home we was back to normal, acting just like nothing ever happened!

I know that it is best to start them out young with any fish so they are accustomed to them, so, is it to late to add anything with him?

:( that sounds kinda crowded for an oscar and aggression can be made worse with limited space...thats probably why you haven't had any luck

i dont have any personal exp w/oscars, but from what ive read i wouldnt recommend putting anything in there with him...unless you get a bigger tank

i love oscars myself :) the reason i dont have one yet is that i'd want to put one in at least a 90 gallon tank, which i dont have space or $$$ for

a pleco the same size as him might work out in a larger tank...other than that i dont know
