So I walk into the bathroom last night and turn on the light...there's a cricket in there...so I catch him and I'm about to go outside and let him go. As I'm walking past Oscars tank, he looks at me and I remembered reading that Oscars like crickets, so I threw the cricket in the tank.

Well, lemme tell ya, that I don't think a single second ticked past and that cricket was GONE!!! But then poor Oscar was swimming around looking in every corner for more...guess I'll have to get him a few at the pet store once in a while...:)

Haha...glad he enjoyed it! *twirlysmi
I do the same thing whenever I find the odd 'creepy crawly' roaming around inside. He always devours them voraciously!

You feed Triton your hard earned babies? No, do you?
LOL! No, you said creepy crawlies from outside...what else do you give him? Earthworms? Other stuff?

PS, I think I'm gonna take a cray from you soon...I want one of Goliath and Frosts' offspring! ;) Maybe 2...haven't decided yet. If my friend still has any babies, I'll get 1 from him and that way I won't have to worry about any crossbreeding...
The 55 that I had "Lobster" in seems to be ok now...and man, I MISS her!!!! That tank is so boring now. Gonna do a good water change this weekend and start to restock. It's sooo empty in there now...:(

Wow, this got long...sorry!

Lol...sometimes I do, yes.
But mostly the crays he gets are from cray hunting adventures where I've caught and kept more than needed. For example, last time I had someone from the bluecrayfish forum who wanted some wild-caughts, so I got him some. Well, they weren't as big as I had hoped, so I went out searching for some more...and I found several big ones. Anyway, the big ones replaced the smaller ones...so the smaller ones turned into oscar food!

But I also catch the odd beetle or other insect roaming around inside the apartment, so he gets those too from time to time.

Cool...just be sure to let me know before they're all gone!
I just unloaded a dozen of the 1-1.5" little guys to the LFS the other day.

Within reason, yes.
But you wanna be careful about feeding him stuff that is infested with pesticides. The odd one won't hurt, but you definitely wouldn't want it a regular part of your fish's diet.

I've heard that some frogs can be toxic, but I'm not sure which ones or to what extent (I'm thinking this applies more to the ones down south, but I'm not sure).
