I've been wanting an Oscar for a long time. I have an empty 30 gal. tank and wanted to get 1 oscar but not sure if it will be big enough. I've been on google to get some answers but totaly confused from 20-100 gal. tanks.

Can someone please help me?

Thanks,

Bonnie

50G minimum for an oscar, it just gets too big and messy for a 30G ... if you want to stock the 30G with cichlids I would do dwarf cichlids or even african cichlids would work out better. stay away from any of the cichlids that grow 12 inches+++ such as oscars, jack dempseys, parrots, flowerhorns, severums, etc.

Thank you for letting me know. I do have a cichlid in a 20 gal. long tank for about 5-7 yrs now and I love her. She sits by my recliner and watches me knit sometimes.

I don't care to have live plants, I've somehow managed to kill them before.
