My two Oscars seem to have quite a bit of scales missing from their sides. They do not appear to have any type of fungus on them. One of the Oscars tail looks really jagged, chuncks missing. Any ideas on what may be happening. Don't ever see them picking at each other, I'm confused. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Probably scrapping when you go to bed.

If it was the just the fin damage then I'd say either fights or finrot etc - but if the scales are damaged with no sign of fungal infection (keep watching) then that's got to be bite marks.

They go for the flanks first - then a nip on the tail to round things off.

I've got two that recently had to sort out the pecking order - it wasn't pretty, but it did pass. Watch for them changing colour when they are close, it's part of the dom/sub behaviour. Bit of a giveaway is that only one of them has the damage.
