Hey Everyone, I was wondering if I could get a small oscar for my current setup that is in my signature. If not can anyone else recommend some other cool cichlids.
thanks so much!

No I would NOT put an oscar in that tank...they get HUGE and could possibly end up eatting the other ones in there...and for the fish you already have in there I wouldnt add any more unless you get rid of that shark...which will get large as well. If you got rid of the shark you could put a bristlenose plec in there that dont get any bigger than 3-4 inches max. I had 7 in a tank that size and ended up having (was planning anyway) to get a 55 gal which I did...they are much happier... if you want to see it, its under rate my tank titled The 55 is done...

If you get a juvie oscar for that tank I would have my doubts as if it would even become large enough in size to eat them. Oscar's, despite the large size, are rather mellow and I would think would get bullied quite a bit by the more aggresive mbuna. If it did make it to a pretty good size then I would say it would eventualy eat it's tankmakes. Again not because of aggresiveness, but they will often just eat any fish that is small enough fit into it's mouth (and some that aren't).

I would say add more mbuna to the tank. Many people use controlled overstocking on mbuna setups. It's not as easy as just tossing a bunch more fish into the tank, but pretty close once you understand what they need. ;)

I had a rainbow shark for about 4 years, and it took it nearly that long to reach about 4 inches.
