Other foods??

Im just wondering other than flakes and frozen foods is there any other foods you can feed fish, like vegetables or fruits or something??

many fish(particularly bottom feeders) go crazy for blanched cucumber, zuchini, and peas.

Whenever I find an insect/spider around the apartment, into the tank it goes. Always stirs up a little frenzy

I don't even blanch my veggies and the fish love 'em. I routinely feed zucchini in my tank with a screwcumber. I have also tried sweet potato and my common pleco goes apey!

Goldfish can have oranges (this is bad for other fish, though).

cucumber[remove the seeds]...and peas[shelled]...
great for constipation i've recently learned...

as for screwcumber...looks great...but itz costly...
i use a large stainless steel washer...works perfectly...
and it cost me 10 pence[17 cents US]...bargain...

i don't blanch either...no worries...

There are little flying insects that are all around my house. I threw one in the tank, but none of my fish would eat it. One of my platies put it in her mouth then spit it out. I had to take it out. No luck for me.

so cucumber is good i hear, is lettuce good? and btw what does blanched mean?

Yes. lettuce is good, but I don't think as many fish will take it. I know mine won't.

Blanched means drop the vegetables in boiling water for 30 seconds or so, just enough to soften them up.
