Okay i cna tell you about Ottos. They are friendly algae eaters that won't get much bigger than 1.5 inches. They are healthy usually when theyy are all Dark brown colored and do not havea blakc strip across them. They are cute and small!! Make sure they have enough to eat add some algae pellets in so they cna munch on. I hope you enjoy them!!!

I love otocinclus cats. I have a bunch in my tank. I've had both regular otocinclus, and niger otocinclus cats. My LFS also has zebra otocinclus cats, but at $8.99, I'm going to wait until my tank gets older (3 months). I also just got a farlowella catfish. He's really cool looking (twig shaped), and also eats a lot of algae. I wouldn't recommend him for a small tank though.

just don't add them to a new tank. My fish store suggested waiting at least (minimum) 4 weeks before adding them. Also, try and get ones with the biggest bellies, as otocinclus fish are known to starve during shipping. I was told that getting the ones with the biggest bellies shows that they've been eating (and will continue to do so).

k... yeah, my tank's been established for a loooooong time... It started July and has had fish since August... that makes sense to get ones with big stomachs... what's sad is that the best fish store in my area is Petco!! So I really hope the fish doesn't die on me! There's a Petsmart a drive out but I don't want to stress the fish too much... the only other store is a small one with sickly animals... dead and dying fish in the tanks and the bettas look AWFUL! I really pity the animals there!
