ottocats in a cichlid tank?

ive read on here ottocats are great at cleaning tanks,but will they be lunch in a cichlid tank?ive got a peco,but that lazy bastard stays pretty much in a 1 foot area and me pointing out algae to him aint working.lol what do you guys recommend to keep up with a 55 gal,another peco or something else?

i would get a gold algae eater they get upto a foot so he would hold his own and mine is pretty darn active.

I tried an otto in with my tangs...he didn't last long I figured he was fast enough and small enough that maybe the cichlids wouldn't notice him...but that didn't work. You can look for sydontis sp? there are some plecos that people traditionally keep with cichlids.

I've never had sucess with ottos eating algae anyway. I'd look more towards a bristlenose pleco...however i've seen those get pushed around by the cichlids.
