ottocats + wafers

#1
I just got 4 ottocats who have cleaned up my aquarium nicely.  The problem arose yesterday when they basically ran out of algae.  To solve this I bought some algae waffers.  I dropped 1 into my 24 gallon hex tank and unfortunatley the ottocats didnt notice it but my seven cherry barbs did and began to devour it.  I moved it around the tank trying to get it in a spot where the ottocats would find it but to no avail.  I tried feeding the other fish to keep them away from it but this was a temporary solution.  My question is how do I feed my ottocats algae waffers w/o my other fish getting to it first?

Good question. I've not actually ever even seen an otto cat eat algae waffer, although I have seen them maw-down in shrimp pellet.

Try feeding the otto cats at night when the other fish are sleeping.

I wouldn't worry too much if your cats don't immeadately jump at the notion of waffers or pellets. When they're hungry they will find the food so long as you supply it.
