Also, what does the algae look like that is growing in your tank? I ask because there are some algaes that Otos don't eat. At least mine don't.

well first off there isnt any acsess food on the bottom because the ottos eat it when it falls but i was just wondering if i should get something to eat the stuff on the bottom so the ottos would focus on algea. second some is in circles and thin some is in a film that you can only see if you look at the tank from the right angle. some is growing where the filter is i guess its because it gets warm there.

The circles I would leave, they love that stuff! The filmy you can leave but it will take them a while to eat it, I always wipe mine off when I do a water change. IT comes back! ;) As far as the Otos eating food off the bottom, what kind of food? I have never seen them eat anyhting but algae. Is it algae wafers? Do you have other fish in this tank?

My ottos dont do not clean my tank of algae at all. In fact I dont know what they eat. I donno if this is 100% advisable BUT :) you might try some Algae eating shrimp (Amino sp). I got four and they really helped my tank (not brown algae, or some thin green stuff,So maybe they wont help your tank?) they ate hair algae, and some extra green aglae that had grown on my plants.

Well that completely depends on the size of your tank, and what else besides "other" fish are in there.

So lets try this again. What other fish are in the tank and how large is it? Given this info we can recommend the proper bottom dweller for your set up. Without it anyone who answers is just guessing.

Well seeing as it is a 10 gal and pretty well stocked you don't have room for a proper school of Cories. I would recommend some shrimp. They will help with algae and eat any little left over tidbits of food.

Even feeding sparingly normally some small particles of food passes through the gills of your fish. So yes there is normally a small amount of food on the bottom, even if you don't really see it.
