Overflow and snails

Is there any risk of snails getting into the overflow box and disrupting the flow and ultimately cause a flood.? I see one of my snails on the outside of the box, what if it goes inside? Any risks?

it willif it traps the flow but if it doesnt it be fine i had fish live in the over flow before no matter how maney time i remove them from there they like it there

they sell a plastic mesh to keep snails and stuff out.... if not the worst thats happened to me is the fish/snail/shrimp goes for a little ride
