Overnight cloudy water attack

The title pretty well explains my prediciment, i woke up this morning to an incredibly cloudy tank. I can just see the back (and it's only a 10 gallon), everything is incredibly yellow but i've been trying to fight off some nasty diatom algae lately. I chucked a bag of carbon in their, hoping it would clear up but it's only been in for around an hour....anyone know whats up? should i be worried? what should i do to clear it back up?

could be a bacteria bloom, i'd do a 30-50% water change and see if that has any effect

so far i did a 30% water change (all the RO/DI) water i had left. and smacked a bag of carbon in their, still no effect. i'll take a picture later today and post it. I dont know if that will help diagnosing the problem, but i'll try because so far this damn tank has become pretty discouraging.

well it could help us tell wether it is a bacteria bloom, or if it is maybe an algae bloom.
