Paint in the tank.

My girlfriend wants to know if there is a paint she can buy to use on tank deco that won't separate over time and kill the fish?

I had this question some time ago and I believe I was told acrylic, non-toxic, non-water based paints are okay for aquarium use.

I remember you had to cover the layer of paint with some sort of tank-safe gloss...but I forget what it was.

I used to use plastic-coating type things as paint for inside tanks and for fixtures. They had it at pool/jacuzzi supply stores and was used to coat water tanks on the inside and outside. I had to read the cans and pick accordingly.

If you don't use what Doom is talking about, then you'll have to seal whatever paint you use with a safe clear epoxy. If you seal it, you really could use any type of paint that you wanted, however just be sure that it is sealed well and water won't come into direct contact with the paint.
