Parasite medication

I called my LFS to ask what medicines they had to treat internal parasites and the only ones they mentioned were Clout and Parasite Clear .

From just looking at it on the website, it seems to me that these are more meant for external parasites. Does anyone have experience with this medication? Are either effective against internal parasites?

Sorry, never mind about the question. It would be interesting to know the answer, except I went to a different fish store and found Seachem Metronidazole, which I've heard is a good medication for internal parasites. Hopefully it works out!

there's a new med out, i'm sorry i don't know the name.. but it's a liquid that becomes a flake whne you drop drops into the water, so the fish actually EATS the medication. it's pretty neat.

Wow that sounds like a cool medication!

I tried Pepso food before, and I wasn't very impressed. My fish don't really like it, plus the sickest fish wasn't eating anything, never mind any medicine. So, I'm giving this medication a try this time. Still, that sounds like a cool idea..

is it just one fish or the whole bunch?? may want to quarentine if it's just a few. what kind of internal parasites do they have?? how is your water chemistry?

I'm not sure what type of internal parasites it is. I'm just figuring thats what it is because a few of the fish are looking skinny, and I've seen one or two with white stringy poo.

Really, only 2 of the tiger barbs are looking skinny. I am treating the whole tank though, because I've had almost all of my otos die off, likely due to internal parasites. One of my tiger barbs died from "wasting away" a few weeks back, around the time the otos died. By this point I was feeding Pepso Food, and I thought that it worked (except for the fact that it didn't save my tiger barb), but now that the parasites are back, I'm treating the whole tank so that it won't happen again.

Hi, if it's white stringy poop and the fish aren't eating, it's probably hexamita. Treatment for hex is 'metronidazole' which can be purchased at the fish stores at Hex-Out and SeaChem Metronidazole.
